Our Story

The history of 98point6 starting in July of 2014 through January of 2024 with the acquisition of Bright.md

Before the days of video calls and virtual meetings, a team of healthcare experts were brainstorming how to expand access to quality care. Zeroing in on the need to go beyond physical spaces to meet patients wherever they were, a team of practicing care providers, leading software engineers, and imaginative technologists began designing the 98point6 digital care platform – a name to represent good health and an ideal state. After two years of product development, medical feedback, and software testing, a digital clinic was ready to launch on the platform in 2017.

Over the years, the collaborative team refined the tool with enhancements to automate patient intake, integrate with electronic health records, provide clinical documentation, flow with practice standards, and improve provider efficiency. Behind the scenes, machine learning was being deployed across hundreds of thousands of patient visits to help establish an intelligence engine that could prioritize case assignments and provide care teams sincere, one-click, text suggestions when messaging with patients.

By 2020, the platform's AI was able to complete 80% of the patient intake information and eliminate the administrative burden. The platform reduced the cognitive load on Doctors and Nurse Practitioners, and freed their mental capacity to focus on patients. Within the digital tool, providers were easily able to handle several patients in a short time span and simultaneously chat with multiple patients in secure text-based communications. Patients were also happy with the experience, rating their user interface 4.8 out of 5 stars and commenting on the ease of use, convenience of receiving care wherever, flexibility in communicating with physicians, and the speed of accessing quality care.

Before the global pandemic arrived and telehealth was more broadly adopted, the 98point6 virtual care software had been proven successful. The company had a long head start on building a secure, easy-to-use, intelligent healthcare software that integrates with the various health record systems. In March of 2023, a new mission was formed: advance medical technology to enable exceptional healthcare – and 98point6 began licensing its software more broadly to help care delivery organizations expand access to care, improve patient engagement, and achieve cost savings.
